Bicentenary Pipeband Championship

Inveraray and District Grade 1 PipeBandThe 2016 Bicentenary Pipe Band Championships continue to build on their success with more pipe band performances than ever before, from Novice Juvenile to Grade 2, at Hermitage Park in 2016. Kintyre Schools were once again crowned overall winners while Helensburgh Clan Colquhoun Pipe Band won the Senior Marching & Discipline Trophy. The highland dancing competition in Victoria Halls also had an increased number of entries this year with local dancers winning many of the trophies. Full results will appear on the Highland Dancing page.

Special attractions this year included -

Inveraray & District Pipe Band - current Grade 1 British Champions and the top Scottish Grade 1 pipe band - gave a fantastic display in the main arena of one of their 2016 competition sets. The band competed at the BPC for several years before being promoted to Grade 1 and now return each year to support the event.

2 juvenile bands from Australia - the Brisbane Boys College Pipe Band and Scotch College Melbourne Pipe Band competed in Novice Juvenile A and Juvenile with both bands winning several trophies to take back to Australia.

The Brisbane Boys College Pipe Band also took part in the Opening Parade along with Helensburgh Clan Colquhoun Pipe Band, highland dancers and VIPs led by Chieftain Cllr V Dance and Chairperson, CH Campbell
